Engagement

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Two reasons I have been lax in my posting:

I am still without a laptop. I finally arranged for a replacement, with an expected delivery date of last Friday.  Well, last Friday came and went, and it turns out I had to ship my old MBP to them before they ship me a new one.  Fun, [...]

Ocean City Floated Away (Almost)

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Last night I awoke at 2 am to a pretty wild storm. The wind was howling, rain was coming down, and we lost power at least 4 times throughout the night (the carbon monoxide detector kept reminding me). Little did I know that it would only get worse during the day.
For those of [...]

Weekend Review #2

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

This weekend was the 2nd weekend of Bible Geography Grad class. Not as great as the first weekend, but during class I was able to get a ton of homework done for the class. Then I spent the rest of the weekend in Lancaster, visiting Megan and her family. Tomorrow I am back [...]

Tabernacle Youth Center

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

Two weeks ago, I posted questions about retreat centers. Over the last year, I have been learning as much as possible about retreat centers because at my ministry, we are in the process of building one. The Ocean City Tabernacle is building the Tabernacle Youth Center. When completed (tentatively July 2008), this [...]

Grad School Weekend: Review

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

As I posted earlier, I had the first weekend of my Grad school class on Bible Geography. Great class because 1. it is easy, 2. it is relatively short (not a semester long) and 3. I am really enjoying it. I love learning about the Bible, and so far this class has opened [...]

Grad School Weekend: Take 2

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

The posts haven’t been displaying correct recently, so hopefully this will work.  I am 2 hours into my 8 hours of Bible Geography class today, with 3 hours finished last night.  The class is great, with some great teaching about the theological implications from the geographical settings in the OT narrative.  Will post examples later.

Juggling School and Ministry: The Positives

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Yesterday, I posted about the negatives of taking Grad classes while in full-time ministry. Remember, I am in no way against being a student while in ministry (I am doing it myself); I just wanted to point out the disadvantages. Now it is time for the advantages.
How Grad School Affects You Positively:
- Improve [...]

Juggling School and Ministry: The Negatives

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

I spent tonight writing an essay for the MDiv program at Philadelphia Biblical University. I have been taking classes there for the past year, but have not formally been accepted into the program yet. In the essay, I had to write about how my education would fit into my ministry. I brainstormed [...]

Assassination of Jesse James

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Watched The Assassination of Jesse James last night with Megan and some friends. Great on character development, way short on action, and entirely too long. The first 1/2 of the movie was confusing, but the characters in the last 1/2 were great. Casey Affleck gave one of the best acting performances I [...]
