Youth Workers are Facility Managers

multipurpose-youth-workerMost churches have part-time or full-time help to deal with all aspects of the facility: setting up, making repairs, and cleaning up. These men and women are the hardworking staff members that, while mostly behind the scenes, serve a very important role in the church. However, given the nature of scheduling events in youth ministry (including late night events and all-nighters), the facility staff may not always be available. That is when Youth Workers must take over and become the Facilities Staff.

What You Need To Know

  • Help out. Help make the facility staff’s life easier. You can do this by cleaning up on spills your students make, take out the trash, and set up for the smaller events.
  • Communicate. Don’t surprise the facility staff by demanding a major setup on the weekend. Communicate your needs weeks in advance. That way they can plan their staffing accordingly.
  • Get to Know the Staff. Take the facility staff out for lunch. Find out their passion for ministry. Encourage them in their job. Help them share in the success of your ministry.
