Advertise Your Next Event: Bulletin Inserts
Even though they are archaic in this Web 2.0 world, church bulletins are still a staple in many churches. While not always flashy, bulletins are likely the only tangible thing that is seen and read by virtually every single worshiper in a church. If you are promoting a Christian event that would be appealing to other Christians in the community, it is worth a shot to promote in other church’s bulletins.
Here are some tips for successfully getting your event’s info in church bulletins:
- Contact the Church. Either write a letter or, even better, call the church secretary or staff member in charge of bulletin prep. No need to contact the Senior Pastor directly – you should have already contacted him for his support. Plus, the bulletin-prep person will likely run it past the Pastor anyway. Tell the person
- Print and Cut Inserts. A church is being very generous in offering to carry your event’s information in their bulletin; don’t abuse that generosity. Print and cut the inserts yourself. Make sure you obtain accurate info from the church, mainly the number of inserts, dimensions, and even color and paper preference.
- Extra Service. Hand deliver the inserts to each church. If feasible, even volunteer to help fold/insert your paper into the bulletins. Thank each church profusely for their help after the event, making sure to inform them on it’s success (# of salvations, etc).
If a church is not willing to put an additional page in their bulletin, ask if they can put your short description in the “Community Section.” Any opportunity to get your event’s info into the hands of more people, the better.
