YM Blogs I Read

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Just saw I got a link from Jordan Muck over at The End is Forever.com (even though it is to A Shore Thing and not here… close enough). I have been subscribed to his blog for almost a month, and have really enjoyed his content. Here are some of the other Youth Ministry [...]

Grad School Weekend: Review

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

As I posted earlier, I had the first weekend of my Grad school class on Bible Geography. Great class because 1. it is easy, 2. it is relatively short (not a semester long) and 3. I am really enjoying it. I love learning about the Bible, and so far this class has opened [...]

Grad School Weekend: Take 2

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

The posts haven’t been displaying correct recently, so hopefully this will work.  I am 2 hours into my 8 hours of Bible Geography class today, with 3 hours finished last night.  The class is great, with some great teaching about the theological implications from the geographical settings in the OT narrative.  Will post examples later.

Simply Youth Ministry Podcast #72

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Today was the live recording of the Simply Youth Ministry Podcast.  Had fun chatting on there and watching the first 15 minutes of the show.  Too bad I have a real job and had to work.  Check out the podcast when it gets posted (hopefully) tomorrow.

Juggling School and Ministry: The Negatives

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

I spent tonight writing an essay for the MDiv program at Philadelphia Biblical University. I have been taking classes there for the past year, but have not formally been accepted into the program yet. In the essay, I had to write about how my education would fit into my ministry. I brainstormed [...]

Assassination of Jesse James

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Watched The Assassination of Jesse James last night with Megan and some friends. Great on character development, way short on action, and entirely too long. The first 1/2 of the movie was confusing, but the characters in the last 1/2 were great. Casey Affleck gave one of the best acting performances I [...]

Happy Easter

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, [...]

Book Review: Purple Cow

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

Last weekend I finished Seth Godin’s book Purple Cow. The reason for the unique title is explained in the first few pages: regular cows are plain and often overlooked, while purple cows attract anyone’s attention. The “Purple Cow” is a business that is unique in some way that allows it to rise above [...]
